I get all weird when I'm about to post stuff like this because I'm afraid of how it will be received, but it makes it easier knowing there are people out there who enjoy my thoughts. To those who comment and tell me in person you enjoy my posts, thank you!
I was sitting in what is called the "Celestial Room" in the Kansas City LDS temple last Friday and had a spiritual experience I'd like to share, so if you're not into that feel free to scroll. 😊 I was sitting in a far corner, but kept noticing one of the huge mirrors that hangs on a wall. As I looked at it, I thought of my family. Ever since I can remember I always wanted to have a husband and children, and that's exactly what I got. For the most part, it was great. To a lot of people it probably even seemed picture perfect. I saw my family in that mirror, and it was a happy thought. If you've been in a celestial room, you know that in the exact same position on the opposite wall of that giant mirror is another giant mirror. And if you are perfectly centered between the two mirrors, looking into one of them, your reflection appears to go on forever, representing eternity.
I got home and later was reading my scriptures, and came upon one that perfectly described the impressions I had while in the temple. 2 Nephi 9:41 says - "...Behold, the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel..."
If you're slightly to the left or to the right while looking in one of the mirrors, you won't even notice Christ holding up the mirror behind you, and you miss out on the entire eternal vision. Heavenly Father's plan is infinite, and is way better than any plan I could ever make for myself. I wrote a post awhile ago about the promise I was given in a blessing, "If you cling to your faith, you will overcome all." I shifted my priority to cling to Christ, and now I finally feel like I re-centered myself between both mirrors so I not only can have a happy family in one direction, but a happy family in the eternities. Christ has been there holding up that second mirror all along... I just wasn't in the right position to notice it was there. ❤️
